“I have had the enormous honor and pleasure of working with Julian on my house in Goshen for almost ten years now. I am using the words “working with” quite purposefully: Engaging on projects with Julian has been a dream come true of collaboration. I am very particular about every change I make in my home because of environmental sensitivities, green politics, and also because there are almost no details that passes by my visual screen. Because of this, I often spend a lot of time finding the absolutely perfect item or correct way to do something. To his credit, Julian has never once in all these years showed an iota of exasperation or frustration over my sometimes laborious process of deciding — which antique wide pine board wood for the floors and from which company, which screening for the porch (believe it or not, all screening is not the same!) which style cedar clapboard siding for my house, which style or wood for new windows, etc. The majority of men in the home construction business would be rolling their eyes at me in ten minutes. Julian has shown me nothing but Buddha like patience and respect and together we have repetitively made construction or repair decisions that in the end have always made me very happy. Even if in the end, the results were somewhat different from I might have originally imagined, the process itself has always been rewarding and meaningful. As a person with a philosophical bent, I always hold in the forefront of my mind how equally important, in every arena of our lives, is process over product.
Julian is a phenomenon. He remembers everything, every detail, every conversation, almost everything I mention I want done or changed or fixed no matter how small or how large, how I want it done, and the reasons why. Julian always arrives on time or if he cannot, he calls or emails. (We all know how frustrating it is to wait for hours for someone to show, if they even ever do at all, in the end.) Julian always cleans up at the end of the day. He works really hard to find items within the financial parameters I set for any given project. Julian is a good listener! Julian is kind, thoughtful, calm and centered, quiet, joyful and gracious. Julian is skilled and intelligent and creative. When need be, he has shown himself to be phenomenally insightful and imaginative, able to merge his skill as a carpenter with insight and imagination to solve problems most people would balk at. Julian’s enthusiasm for what he does is infectious! Julian has an excellent eye for design and detail. As he is working, I am freed from the feeling I have to follow him around like a puppy dog to make sure he doesn’t do anything wrong. I can trust Julian’s judgment. He is a professional in every sense of the word.”
“I love love love love love my windows. The light in that room now is spectacular, magical. If I could I would spend all my time in that room being transported. You have not seen it, late afternoon, something amazing happens. I am really really happy with the windows!!!!! Thank you so much, Joy, Susan”. Susan Gesmer, Goshen, Ma. May 11, 2010
“Julian took our thought and transformed it into a dream come true. He is a true artist with his planning and building. I can say that the sunroom that he built for us totally changed the way we use our home. We spend more time in our sunroom than any other room in the house. Adding radiant heat to the floor has made the sunroom a 4 season room, the sky lights are ample enough to view the changing sky and the sky at night. Julian had constant insight and suggestions while planning and building our room and he gave us so much more than we imagined. Thank you Julian!” Angela and Dick Flynn, Worthington, MA
